Buying and selling a home isn't as easy as
renting a new apartment, so when you buy, you're probably making a commitment
to stay in the neighborhood you choose for awhile.
Being actively involved in your community and knowing your neighbors are
good strategies to ensure that if a problem does arise that you are part
of a network there to solve it. So if a new business is considering moving
into the neighborhood, you'll have an opportunity to let the business
owners know what's expected of them by neighbors. Or if there's a neighbor
who is disruptive, you'll have a network of people who can address the
problem together.
Your neighborhood community council is usually a good place to start.
Also at The Home Ownership Center, we have community building programs
your neighborhood can take part in.
To learn more about the Council in your neighborhood or our Community
Building Programs, email
